IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

  1. THIS OPERATOR’S MANUAL CONTAINS IMPORTANT SAFETY AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS FOR
    THE LI-ION BATTERY PACKS.
  2. BEFORE USING THE BATTERY PACK, READ THIS OPERATOR’S MANUAL, YOUR TOOL OPERATOR’S MANUAL, AND ALL LABELS ON THE BATTERY PACK, CHARGER AND TOOL.
  3. CAUTION – TO REDUCE THE RISK OF INJURY, CHARGE THE LITHIUM-ION PACKS ONLY IN THEIR
ORIGINAL OR AHTHORIZED LITHIUM-ION CHARGER. Other types of chargers may cause personal injury or damage. Do not wire a battery pack to a power supply plug or car cigarette lighter. Battery packs will be permanently disabled or damaged.
  4. CONTINUOUS USE IN MAX MODE would increase the temperature of the battery pack. Charging is prohibited in abnormal temperature. If charger is connected, the red light would flash and then disappear. It can be resumed and charged while the temperature returns to normal.
  5. USE THE LITHIUM-ION PACKS ONLY ON COMPATIBLE LITHIUM-ION TOOLS. Use with other tools may result in a risk of fire, electric shock or personal injury.
  6. AVOID DANGEROUS ENVIRONMENTS. Do not charge battery pack in rain, snow, damp or wet locations. Do not use battery pack or charger in the presence of explosive atmospheres (gaseous fumes, dust or flammable materials) because sparks may be generated when inserting or removing battery pack, possibly causing fire
  7. DO NOT BURN OR INCINERATE BATTERY PACKS. Battery packs may explode, causing personal injury or damage. Toxic fumes and materials are created when battery packs are burned.
  8. DO NOT CRUSH, DROP, OR DAMAGE battery pack. Do not use a battery pack or charger that has received sharp blow, been dropped, run over, or damaged in any way (e.g., pierced with a nail, hit with a hammer, stepped on).
  9. DO NOT DISASSEMBLE. Incorrect reassembly may result in the risk of electric shock, fire or exposure to battery chemicals.
  10. BATTERY CHEMICALS CAUSE SERIOUS BURNS. Never allow contact with skin, eyes, or mouth. If a
damaged battery pack leaks battery chemicals, use rubber or neoprene gloves to dispose of it. If skin is exposed to battery fluids, wash with soap and water and rinse with vinegar. If eyes are exposed to battery chemicals, immediately flush with water for 20 minutes and seek medical attention. Remove and dispose of contaminated clothing.
  11. DO NOT SHORT CIRCUIT. A battery pack will short circuit if a metal object makes a connection between the positive and negative contacts on the battery pack. Do not place a battery pack near anything that may cause a short circuit, such as coins, keys or nails in your pocket. A short circuited battery pack may cause fire and personal injury.
  12. STORE YOUR BATTERY PACK in a cool, dry place. Do not store battery pack where temperatures may exceed 50°C (120°F) such as in direct sunlight, a vehicle or metal building during the summer.

BATTERY TOOL USE AND CARE

  1. Disconnect the battery pack from the power tools before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tools accidentally.
  2. Recharge only with the chargers specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack.
  3. When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire.
  4. Do not use a battery pack that is damaged or modified. Damaged or modified batteries may exhibit unpredictable behavior resulting in fire explosion or risk of injury.
  5. Do not expose a battery pack to fire or excessive temperature. Exposure to fire or temperature above 212 °F (100°C) may cause explosion.
  6. Follow all charging instructions and do not charge the battery pack outside of the temperature range specified in the instructions. Charging improperly or at temperatures outside of the specified range may damage the battery and increase the risk of fire.

SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES

  1. Know your power tool. Read the operator’s manual carefully. Learn the applications and limitations, as well as the specific potential hazards related to the tool. Following this rule will reduce the risk of electric shock, fire, or serious injury.
  2. Battery tools do not have to be plugged into an electrical outlet; therefore, they are always in operating condition.
Be aware of possible hazards when not using your battery tool or when changing accessories. Following this rule will reduce the risk of electric shock, fire or serious personal injury.
  3. Do not place the battery tools or battery pack near fire or heat. This will reduce the risk of explosion and possibly injury.
  4. Do not dispose of the batteries in a fire. The cells may explode. Check with local codes for possible special disposal instructions.
  5. Do not open or mutilate the battery. Released electrolyte is corrosive and may cause damage to the eyes or skin.
It may be toxic if swallowed.
  6. For best results, your battery should be charged in a location where the temperature is greater than 41°F (5° C) and less than 104°F (40° C). Do not store it outside or in vehicles.
  7. Under extreme usage or temperature conditions, battery leakage may occur. If liquid comes in contact with your skin, wash immediately with soap and water, then neutralize with lemon juice or vinegar. If liquid gets in your eyes, flush them with clean water for at least 10 minutes, and then seek immediate medical attention. Following this rule will reduce the risk of serious personal injury.
  8. Do not let gasoline, oils, petroleum-based products, etc. come in contact with plastic parts. These substances contain chemicals that can damage, weaken or destroy plastic.
  9. Have your battery pack serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the battery pack is maintained.

EXTENDING THE LIFESPAN OF BATTERIES

  1. The batteries in this tool have been designed to provide maximum trouble-free life. Like all batteries, they will eventually wear out.
  2. Do not disassemble the battery pack or attempt to replace the batteries. Handling of the batteries, especially when wearing rings and jewelry could result in a serious burn.
  3. To obtain the longest possible battery life, read and understand the operator’s manual.
  4. It is good practice to unplug the charger and remove the Lithium-lon battery pack when not in use.
  5. For Lithium-lon battery pack storage longer than 30 days:
    • Store the Lithium-lon battery pack where the temperature is below 80ºF (26°C) and free of moisture.
    • Store Lithium-lon battery packs in a 30%-50% charged condition.
    • Every six months of storage, fully charge the Lithium-lon battery pack.
    • Exterior may be cleaned with a cloth or soft non-metallic brush.
