USING YOUR DYSON APPLIANCE

PLEASE READ THE ‘IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS’ IN THIS DYSON OPERATING MANUAL BEFORE PROCEEDING.

OPERATION
  • Do not use it outdoors or on wet surfaces or to vacuum water or other liquids – electric shock could occur.
  • Ensure the appliance remains upright in use and in storage. Dirt and debris may be released if it is turned upside down.
  • Do not operate while checking for blockages.
  • For domestic indoor and car use only. Do not use it whilst the car is in motion or while driving.
  • To operate the Max mode, locate the switch on the top of the appliance. Slide the switch to the Max mode position.
  • To switch off Max mode, slide the switch back to the Powerful Suction
    mode position.
  • This appliance has carbon fiber brushes. Take care if coming into contact with them, as they may cause minor skin irritation. Wash your hands after handling the brushes.

DOCKING STATION INSTALLATION

  • Use appropriate mounting hardware for your wall type and ensure that the docking station is mounted securely. Ensure no pipe work (gas, water, air) or electrical cables, wires, or ductwork are located directly behind the mounting area. The docking station must be mounted in accordance with regulations and applicable codes/standards (state and local laws may apply). Dyson recommends the use of protective clothing, eyeware, and materials when installing the docking station.

CARPETS OR HARD FLOORS

  • Before vacuuming your flooring, rugs, and carpets, check the manufacturer’s recommended cleaning instructions.
  • The brush bar on the appliance can damage certain carpet types and floors. Some carpets will fuzz if a rotating brush bar is used when vacuuming. If this happens, we recommend vacuuming without the motorized floor tool and consulting with your flooring manufacturer.
  • Before vacuuming highly polished floors, such as wood or lino, first, check that the underside of the floor tool and its brushes are free from foreign objects that could cause marking.

LOOKING AFTER YOUR DYSON APPLIANCE

  • Do not carry out any maintenance or repair work other than that shown in this Dyson Operating Manual, or advised by the Dyson Helpline.
  • Only use parts recommended by Dyson. If you do not this could invalidate your guarantee.
  • Store the appliance indoors. Do not use or store it below 3°C (37.4°F). Ensure the appliance is at room temperature before operating.
  • Clean the appliance only with a dry cloth. Do not use any lubricants, cleaning agents, polishes, or air fresheners on any part of the appliance.

  • Debris left on the brush bar may cause damage to the flooring when vacuuming.

VACUUMING

  • Do not use without the clear bin and filters in place.
  • Fine dirt such as flour should only be vacuumed in very small amounts.
  • Do not use the appliance to pick up sharp hard objects, small toys, pins, paper clips, etc. They may damage the appliance.
  • When vacuuming, certain carpets may generate small static charges in the clear bin or wand. These are harmless and are not associated with the mains electricity supply.
  • To minimize any effect from this, do not put your hand or insert any object into the clear bin unless you have first emptied it. Clean the clear bin with a damp cloth only. (See ‘Cleaning the clear bin’.)
  • Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.
  • Do not rest the appliance on chairs, tables, etc.
  • Do not press down on the nozzle with excessive force when using the appliance as this may cause damage.
  • Do not leave the cleaner head in one place on delicate floors.
  • On waxed floors, the movement of the cleaner head may create an uneven luster. If this happens, wipe with a damp cloth, polish the area with wax, and wait for it to dry.

EMPTYING THE CLEAR BIN

  • Empty as soon as the dirt reaches the level of the MAX mark – do not overfill.
  • Ensure the appliance is disconnected from the charger before emptying the clear bin. Be careful not to pull the ‘ON’ trigger.

  • To minimize dust/allergen contact when emptying, encase the clear bin tightly in a plastic bag and empty it.

  • Clean the clear bin with a damp cloth only.
  • Do not use detergents, polishes, or air fresheners to clean the clear bin.

FAQ’s

What are the benefits of the Dyson V8?

Soft roller cleaner head removes large debris and fine dust simultaneously. Direct-drive cleaner head drives bristles deeper into the carpet to remove even more dirt. 75% more brush bar power than the Dyson V8 vacuum. Whole machine HEPA filtration captures allergens and expels cleaner air than the air you breathe.

How long does the Dyson V8 absolute last?

Powerful suction for whole-home cleaning. Up to 40 minutes in Powerful mode and up to 25 minutes with motorized cleaner head. *Actual run time will vary based on power mode and/or attachments used.

How long should a Dyson V8 battery last?

Dyson V8 Cordless Vacuum With a 40-minute battery life the Dyson is a strong contender and has enough juice to clean your home twice (if you’re quick!). Dyson’s V8 has a boost mode which drops the battery life down to a tiny 6 minutes.

Can you leave Dyson V8 on the charger all the time?

The battery is designed to be left on charge permanently, and this will ensure that the vacuum is fully charged when it’s next used. Once the battery is fully charged, your machine won’t use any more electricity.

How many types of Dyson V8 are there?

The Dyson V8 is available in two versions, the V8 Absolute and V8 Animal. Both the Absolute and Animal versions of the Dyson V8 are functionally similar. They have the same motor, the same dust bin, the same suction, and the same battery.

Is a Dyson V8 strong enough?

The Dyson V8 has two suction levels. In normal mode, the power is strong enough to deal with most dirt.

How long does Dyson V8 take to fully charge?

The LED light on the end of the handle will pulse with a blue LED light when charging, and the light will go out when fully charged. It can take up to four hours to fully charge your battery.

Why does my Dyson V8 stop after a few minutes?

One of the first things to do when your Dyson vacuum cleaner keeps starting and stopping is to empty the bin. It may be full, or the machine may simply perceive it as too full to continue working. Dyson vacuum cleaners require constant airflow through them to work, and a full bin can stop this from happening.

What is the suction power of the Dyson V8?

The V8’s increased power amounts to the motor spinning at up to 110,000 RPM, the same as on the previous model. Dyson’s rated suction power has increased, however, from 100 air watts to 115 air watts in the new model.

Is it easy to change the Dyson V8 battery?

Yes, as you’ve seen in the steps and photos above, replacing the battery is a simple three-step process that requires a Philips screwdriver and unbolting three small screws

How do I know when my Dyson battery needs replacing?

Over time, all batteries are subject to degradation. So if your run time has declined when the machine is not in Max / Boost mode, it might be time to buy a new battery. All our machines come with a 2-year initial guarantee that includes the battery.

How long does the Dyson V8 battery last per charge?

The battery for Dyson V8 is usable for up to 40 minutes in normal mode and up to 5 minutes in high-performance mode.

Is Dyson V8 good for hard floors?

Floors, sofas, and stairs. Up high, and down and around. Engineered to pick up dirt, dust, and hair from hard floors and carpets. Quickly transforms into a handheld vacuum – for all around your home and car.

How long to charge the Dyson v8 before first use?

For the first initial charge, you want to charge it for 5 hours, after that, you are not required to charge it for 5 hours to use it again, but the way I look at it is, you are better off just fully charging it, rather than half charges, where you would be putting it back on the charger half as fast anyways.

Do I need to charge my Dyson before the first use?

It’s important to fully charge your new machine before using it for the first time and after every clean. This is because the battery and monitoring system’s algorithm ‘learns’ over time, and fully charging your machine helps it to more accurately calculate and display the remaining run time.
