WARNING

PLEASE READ THIS MANUAL ENTIRELY AND FOLLOW MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS FOR SAFE USE!

  • This Bike Rack fits most Sedan, Hatchback, Station Wagon, SUV, Minivan vehicles and does not fit Pickup trucks, vans, and RVs. Please ensure this Bike Rack fits the model of your vehicle.
  • This Bike Rack safely carries bikes with a top tube/crossbar. For bikes without a top tube/crossbar, you may need an adapter (sold separately).
  • Park your vehicle at a safe spot before mounting, loading, or unloading. When mounting or loading, do not block tail lights, brake lights, or tur signals.
  • are tire, luggage racks, spoilers, and bumper skirts may prevent safe use of the bike rack.
  • Bikes or rack falling can damage your vehicle/bikes and cause serious accidents resulting in bodily injury. Use only on vehicles on which this rack can be properly mounted as described in the user manual.
  •  Please ensure proper mounting and secure strapping before driving!
  • Top hooks must be completely hooked over solid edges at the top of the trunk lid or rear door.
  • Never hook to roof racks, glass, rubber, or plastic molding. Mount rack only with bottom feet on the rigid surface of the vehicle (never on glass).
  • Never use on a trailer, RV, or on the front, top, or side of any vehicle.
  • Never carry more than 2 bikes (max capacity: 70lb/32kg) – no motorcycles, tandems, mopeds, or recumbents.
  • Bikes must be securely tied with tie-down straps and cords.
  • Vehicle taillights must remain visible.
  • Drive conservatively, especially over bumps or on uneven roads. Check after 10 miles/16 kilometers during use that all straps are tight, and bikes are secure
  • Follow speed limits, do not exceed 70 Mph/110 Kph.
  • Remove rack from vehicle when not in use. Do not use if any part is damaged or missing.
  • To avoid damage to the rear door or trunk, do not open the trunk or rear door when hooks or racks are in place.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

Please follow Steps 1 to 8

Mount two-foot pieces to the base panel. Then, mount the two arms on the other side of the base panel. Make sure the pieces are completely mounted and locked in place.
Note: If you have difficulty in mounting the pieces, you can use lubricating oil. Also, a rubber mallet hammer can be used.

Thread the straps to the buckles

  • Locate the strap coming from the rack and the buckle with a hook. Press the top of the buckle as illustrated in Figure 2.1. Slide the strap underneath the buckle.
  • Release the buckle, ensuring the strap is fully threaded through.
  • Repeat for all straps and buckles with hooks.

Attach hooks

POINTS A: Attaching Top Hooks

  1. Open the trunk/hatch slightly.
  2. Attach the top hooks as shown in Figure 3.3. Ensure the hooks are securely attached over the metal edges at the top of the trunk/hatch.
    Caution:
    • Do not hook to rain gutters, roof racks, glass, or plastic moldings.
    • Avoid placing straps and buckles between the frame or trunk/hatch.
    • Avoid placing straps or hooks over/on spoilers.
  3. Slightly tighten the straps by pulling their free end, do not fully tighten until you attach al six hooks and confirm proper placement of the Bike Rack.
  4. Carefully close the trunk/hatch.

POINTS B: Attaching Side Hooks

  1. Attach the left and right side hooks to the metal edge of the trunk/hatch, avoiding areas near taillights.
  2. Slightly tighten the straps by pulling their free end, do not fully tighten until you attach all six hooks and confirm proper placement of the Bike Rack.
  3. Ensure the Bike Rack is centered on the trunk/hatch.

POINTS C: Attaching Bottom Hooks

  1. Slightly open the trunk or hatch for easy attachment.
  2. Securely hook the bottom hooks to a metal edge below the bumper or the bottom of the Trunk/Hatch.
  3. Close the Trunk/Hatch carefully.
  4. Slightly tighten the straps by pulling their free end, do not fully tighten until you attach al six hooks and confirm proper placement of the Bike Rack.

Caution:

    • Do not attempt to open the trunk/hatch if hooks are attached, as it may damage the vehicle.
    • Straps should be away from the vehicle’s exhaust and not touch sharp metal edges.

FINAL STEP:
After attaching all six hooks, tighten all the straps. Check that the Bike Rack is secure and firmly in place. The Bike Rack should not wiggle or move in any direction. Ensure the Bike Rack is tilted slightly upwards from the trunk/hatch. This keeps bikes both distanced from the vehicle and raised higher off the ground. Ensure all four rubber pads fully contact the vehicle and are placed where the vehicle offers proper support. Do not place your bottom feet on the glass. Keep the Bike Rack and straps away from the rear window wipers.

Tie straps

Make sure that all buckles are threaded and tightened as shown. Tie a half-hitch knot below the buckle for safety once the top strap length is set. Inspect all straps to make sure that they are not worn or damaged. After making a half-hitch knot, tie down th extended straps as shown in figure 4.3. Do not leave extended straps away.

Load bike(s)

WARNING: Remove all loose items from bicycles. (pumps, bags, etc.) Load heavier bike closer to the trunk. Add padding between bike contact points, if necessary.
Load the first bike with your chain andgears facing away from the vehicle. Alternating the direction of the bikes makes it easier to load and prevents the handlebars from getting tangled. Load each bike so the top tube rests on the cradles.

Zip-down the cradles

Zip down the cradle and make sure the bar of the bike is tightened by the cradle. Pull the cradle zip until the bike cannot wiggle. Check the cradle is fully zipped down.

WARNING; After bicycles are loaded, check that entre rack is secure, and that the rack is firmly in place. Vision out of the rear window may be limited to side mirrors accordingly when backing up Rear Window Wipers may not be usable while rack is attached to the vehicle.

Stabilize and tighten front wheels

The purpose of the integrated elastic shock cord is to stabilize the bike(s), keep the bike (s) front wheels in place and prevent them from swinging or hitting the vehicle. Route the cord through the front wheels, wrap it across the tubes/rack, secure the wheels, in place, and ensure the front wheels are tight and straight. Finally, securely attach the hook at the end of the cord and ensure the is enough tension in the cord.

Confirm the rack and bike(s) are positioned right.

Make sure bike tires are not directly behind the exhaust pipe. Do not let bike tire hang near the exhaust pipe; hot exhaust may damage tires.K-K-2-Bike-Cross-Country-Trunk-Bike-Rack-FIG-13
