Product Usage Instructions

  1. Ensure that the product is installed in a suitable environment with a temperature range of -30°C to +70°C.
  2. Connect the input power supply within the voltage range of 90 ~ 264VAC or 127 ~ 370VDC and a frequency range of 47 ~ 63Hz.
  3. Make sure that the DC voltage output matches your requirements. The available options are 24V or 48V.
  4. Adjust the output voltage within the allowable range of 50 ~ 120% of the nominal output voltage. Please refer to the Function Manual for detailed instructions.
  5. If necessary, adjust the constant current level within the allowable range of 20 ~ 100% of the rated current. Please refer to the Function Manual for detailed instructions.
  6. Use the built-in remote ON-OFF control to power on or off the product. Short circuit the control signal for power on and open circuit for power off.
  7. Monitor the DC OK signal for the status of the power supply. The signal will be within the range of -0.5 ~ 0.5V when the PSU is turned on and within the range of 3.5 ~ 5.5V when the PSU is turned off. Please refer to the Function Manual for more information.
  8. Ensure that the product is protected from overloads, overvoltages, and over temperatures. The product will automatically shut down in case of an over-temperature condition and recover once the temperature goes down.
  9. If using multiple units, take advantage of the active current sharing capability up to 14000W (3+1).
  10. Refer to the Function Manual for further instructions on programmable features, such as communication protocol options and output voltage adjustment.

Description

PHP-3500 series is a 3500W single-output slim-type power supply with 60mm of low profile design. Adopting the full range of 90~264VAC input, the entire series provides an output voltage line of 24V and 48V. In addition to the high efficiency of up to 96%, the whole series operates from -30°C ~ +70°C under air convection without the fan. PHP-3500 has complete protection functions and 2G anti-vibration capability; it complies with international safety regulations such as TUV BS EN/EN62368-1, UL62368-1, and the design refers to BS EN/EN61558-1 and BS EN/EN60335-1. PHP-3500 series serves as a high-performance power supply solution for various industrial applications.

NOTE 1.  All parameters NOT specially mentioned are measured at 230VAC input, rated load and 25℃ of ambient temperature.

2.  Ripple & noise are measured at 20MHz of bandwidth by using a 12″ twisted pair-wire terminated with a 0.1uf & 47uf parallel capacitor.

5.  Without water or fan cooling to provide adequate heat dissipation, OTP might be triggered if trimming output voltage by PV signal toward upper or bottom limits of nominal voltage. Under such condition, enhanced cooling on PSU is highly recommended.

6.  PV/PC function when users are not operating on PMBus. SVR functions when users are neither operation on PMBus nor using PV/PC.

8.  Need additional EMI filter to meet regulations of EMC conducted and radiated emission. Characteristics of EMI filter please refer to the table, Minimum Insertion Loss.

9.  The power supply is considered a component which will be installed into a final equipment. All the EMC tests are been executed by mounting the unit on a 600mm*900mm metal plate with 1mm of thickness. The final equipment must be re-confirmed that it still meets EMC directives. 10.  The ambient temperature derating of 3.5℃/1000m with fanless models and of 5℃/1000m with fan models for operating altitude higher than 2000m(6500ft).

PMBus Communication Interface
PHP-3500 supports PMBus Rev. 1. 1 with a maximum 100KHz bus speed, allowing information reading, status monitoring, output trimming, etc. For details,
please refer to the Function Manual.

Current Sharing
PHP-3500 has the built-in active current sharing function and can be connected in parallel, up to 4 units, to provide higher output power as exhibited below

  • The power supplies should be paralleled using short and large-diameter wiring and then connected to the load.
  • The difference in output voltages among parallel units should be less than 0.2V.
  • The total output current must not exceed the value determined by the following equation:
  • Maximum output current at parallel operation=(Rated current per unit) X (Number of unit) X0.9
  • When the total output current is less than 5% of the total rated current, or say (5% of Rated current per unit) X (Number of units) the current shared among units may not be balanced.
  • Under parallel operation ripple of the output voltage may be higher than the SPEC at light load conditions. It will go back to normal ripple level once the output load is more than 5%.

Operate with an additional aluminum plate
In order to meet the “Derating Curve” and the “Static Characteristics”, the PHP-3500 series must be installed onto an aluminum plate(or a cabinet of the same size) on the bottom. The size of the suggested aluminum plate is shown below. And for optimizing thermal performance, the aluminum plate must have an even and smooth surface (or be coated with thermal grease), and the PHP-3500 series must be firmly mounted at the center of the aluminum plate.
