Dispose of used packaging material carefully or store it out of the reach of children. There is a danger of suffocation!

Keep the tool out of reach of children. It is not a toy.
Only use this unit according to this instruction manual and for the intended use. The unit has not been designed for continuous, professional use.

Persons with limited physical, sensorial or mental abilities are not allowed to use the unit, unless they are supervised and briefed for their safety by a qualified person.
Never direct the power tool towards people, animals or plants.

Protect the unit from humidity and extreme temperatures. Do not operate the tool outdoors. Do not allow water or any other liquids to enter the unit.
Hold the power tool by insulated gripping surfaces, when performing an operation where the cutting accessory may contact hidden wiring or its own cord. Cutting accessory contacting a “live” wire may make exposed metal parts of the power tool “live” and could give the operator an electric shock.

Keep hands away from the sawing range. Do not reach under the workpiece. Contact with the saw blade can lead to injuries.
Apply the tool to the workpiece only when switched on. Otherwise there is danger of kickback when the cutting tool jams in the workpiece.

When sawing, the pivoting shoe must always faces against the workpiece. The saw blade can become wedged and lead to loss of control over the tool.
When the cut is completed, switch off the tool and then pull the saw blade out of the cut only after it has come to a standstill. This way you can avoid kickback and can place down the tool securely.

Use only sharp, flawless saw blades. Bent or blunt saw blades can break or cause kickback.
Do not slow down the saw blade by applying side pressure after switching off. The saw blade can be damaged, break or cause kickback.

Clamp the material to be processed well. Do not support the workpiece with your hand or foot. Do not touch objects or the floor with the saw running. Danger of kickback.
Do not cut or saw where there might be hidden electric wires, gas or water pipes. Do not use the saw for cutting bricks, concrete, cellular concrete, natural stone or tiles. Do not use the saw for cutting pipes still containing liquids. Do not saw into unknown materials. Keep the line of cut above and below the workpiece free of obstacles.
Use suitable detectors to determine if utility lines are hidden in the work area or call the local utility company for assistance. Contact with electric lines can lead to fire and electric shock. Damaging a gas line can lead to explosion. Penetrating a water line causes property damage or may cause an electric shock.
The unit is designed for operation in altitudes of up to 2000 m above sea level.
For your own safety, wear safety goggles, a dust mask and ear protection while working with the reciprocating saw.
Should the unit become damaged do not use it any further. Do not disassemble the unit or try to repair it yourself. Have it repaired by a professional or contact our customer support department.

Operation

Intended Use

The reciprocating saw has been exclusively designed for cutting wood, chipboard, plastics, PVC, fibreglass, drywall, sheet steel, iron, Aluminium and other soft materials.
The intended use also includes an operation following the operating instructions. Any use beyond these parameters (different media, applying force) or any changes (reconstruction, no original accessory) can lead to serious risks and is regarded as use that is contrary to the intended purpose.

Before the first Use

Remove the reciprocating saw from the packaging.
Check all parts for damage in transit and do not use a damaged saw.
Keep packaging materials out of reach of children. There is risk of suffocation!

Inserting/replacing the Saw Blade

Before inserting or replacing the saw blade, unplug from power mains to prevent an unintentional start of the tool.
Please note that the saw blade and the blade clamp will become hot during operation. Wear safety gloves when inserting the saw blade to prevent burns and cuts.
Use only suitable saw blades and do not use blunt, damaged or bent saw blades.

Keep the blade clamp (7) always clean.

Pull the lever of the saw blade clamp (4) outward and hold it. Insert the saw blade with ½” universal shank with the cutting side down into the saw blade clamp. Never insert the saw blade with the cutting side up.

Release the lever and allow it to slide back to its original position. Make sure the blade clamp is firmly secured!
Carefully pull the saw blade to make sure the saw blade is firmly secured.

Operating

The reciprocating is intended for twohanded operation only. When working, always hold the reciprocating saw as shown in the figure on the right with both hands only.
Never reach your hands over the blade clamp or the pivoting shoe (2). There is risk of injuries!

Fasten the workpiece to be processed in a suitable vice before cutting. If possible, remove any foreign bodies such as nails, screws etc. or make sure not to cut the foreign bodies with a saw blade that is not suitable for this work.

Insert the power plug into the wall socket.
To switch ON the reciprocating saw, press and hold the ON/OFF trigger (9). To switch off the reciprocating saw release the ON/OFF trigger.

First, allow the saw blade to run and then bring the pivoting shoe (2) into contact with the surface of the workpiece. Only use low pressure when operating the reciprocating saw. Do not start cutting if the saw blade is inside the workpiece or contacts the surface of an object. There is danger of serious injury or damages.

The saw blade should not be longer than required for the intended cut. A 4 cm longer saw blade will avoid excessive kickback.
To switch off the reciprocating saw, unlock the ON/OFF trigger and wait until the saw has come to a standstill. Now you can remove the saw blade from the workpiece.

Dual Work Light

The Saw is equipped with a dual work light to make working in poor lighting easier. Turn on the work light by pressing the button (7). To turn off the work light, press again.

Pivoting Shoe

The pivoting shoe (2) serves as a support when cutting. The pivoting shoe is freely movable and can be tilted according to application, so that it can be adapted to the cutting operation. By adjusting the pivoting shoe, the blade length can be optimally used and the accessibilities in corners will be improved.

To adjust the length of the pivoting shoe, loosen both hex screws (11) with the supplied hex key (12) and pull the pivoting shoe outwards resp. push the pivoting shoe completely inwards. The pivoting shoe can be extended up to a length of 2.5 cm.
Re-tighten the hex screws firmly.

Rotatable Saw Handle

For optimum handling and for controlled cutting from any angle, the saw handle can be turned. The saw handle can be rotated up to 180° with eight positions (the angle settings are 0°, 45°, 90° and 135° to the left and 45°, 90° and 135° to the right as well as 180°) after operating the rotation slider (6). Only rotate the saw handle when the reciprocating saw is switched off.

Stroke Rate

The stroke rate can be adjusted during operation with the adjusting dial (8). Adjust the cutting speed on the relevant material. In general, a higher speed is used for softer materials such as wood, composites and plastics. A lower speed is used for more precise cuts or harder materials such as sheet metal, cable ducts and pipes.

Hints

TPI – teeth per inch/2.54 mm.
Saw Blade for Wood with 3 TPI: Suitable for coarse sawing of wood.
Saw Blade with 6 TPI: Suitable for fine sawing of wood boards and for curves or plunge cuttings.
Universal Saw Blade with 10 TPI: The flexible blade allows flush sawing for coarse work in wood and plastics.

When sawing building materials observe the statutory requirements and the manufacturer’s recommendations. Make sure the saw blade and the blade speed are suitable for the workpiece.
When sawing metal observe that the material can easily heat up. The saw blade will harden and loose its cutting efficiency and flexibility.
- Always use undamaged saw blades,
- grease the material on the cutting site with cutting oil or lubricate,
- do not touch the cutting site immediately after cutting.
When cutting wooden material, do not use too much pressure on the saw blade. If the stroke rate is too high, the cutting line will tear off.

Use narrow blades for tight curved cuttings.
To make flush cuttings, e.g. sawing pipes directly on the wall, preferably use a flexible bimetal saw blade. The length of the saw blade has to exceed the diameter of the workpiece you intend to cut (approx. 4 cm longer). First, place the saw blade directly on the wall surface and bend the blade with sideways pressure so that the footplate comes up against the wall.

Plunge sawing can be used only in soft materials. Only use short saw blades when undertaking plunge sawing. First, cut the surface of the workpiece as usual and as soon as you have reached the requested cutting depth, bring the blade into the vertical position and continue sawing along the cutting line.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Note: Immediately switch OFF the reciprocating saw,

if smoke or sparks are observed coming from or around the collector resp. the rotor,
if smoke or a strong smell of burned insulating material is observed,
if the saw blade comes loose, is crooked or damaged,

if the motor runs irregularly or jams,
if the saw blade jams. Slightly open the sawn split in the workpiece and extract the saw blade. Do not try to finish the cutting process with a jammed saw blade to avoid injury or damaging the reciprocating saw and the saw blade.

Maintenance, Cleaning and Storing
For best performance, always keep the saw blade and the reciprocating saw in good order.

Before carrying out any work on the reciprocating saw, unplug form power mains.
To clean the blade clamp, slightly pat the pivoting shoe on an even surface. To remove bigger cutting residue, clean the blade clamp with a paintbrush or with compressed air.
Clean the housing with a cloth, a paintbrush or a brush to remove dust and wood splinters. Always keep the ventilation slots clean and free from obstructions. Do not allow swarf to enter the ventilation slots.

Never use benzene or similar aggressive chemicals or abrasives for cleaning, in order not to damage the reciprocating saw.
Do not allow liquids of any kind enter the reciprocating saw.
Check that all screws and parts of the reciprocating saw are firmly secured in regular intervals.

Store the reciprocating saw indoors in a dry place that is protected from dust, dirt and extreme tempertaures.
Store the reciprocating saw out of reach of children and persons in need of supervision.
