Introduction
Getting Started with your Standard Filter
This user guide is for the standard Brita® filter (model #OB03). For Brita® LONGLAST™ (model #OB06) user instructions, visit www.brita.com (U.S.A.) or www.brita.ca (Canada), or refer to instructions provided in Brita® LONGLAST™ Filter replacement packs.
- Wash your hands with soap and water, then remove filter from filter bag.
- Hand-wash pitcher/dispenser, lid and reservoir periodically with a mild detergent.
- Do not wash in dishwasher. Do not use abrasive cleaners. Rinse well.
- Flush filter with cold, running tap water for 15 seconds.
- Insert filter into reservoir by lining up groove in filter with fin in reservoir.
- Press firmly to ensure a tight seal. Fill the reservoir with cold tap water.*
- Discard your first three pitchers of filtered water (or first dispenser), or use this\ water for plants.
- It is normal for carbon dust to appear in your first fillings.
- Be sure to activate the electronic indicator (if applicable). Please refer to either the
- Filter Change Indicator (Dual Mode) or Filter Change Indicator (Single Mode) instructions depending on what your indicator looks like.
- For best results when filling pitcher/dispenser reservoir, pour tap water on the side of the reservoir rather than directly on top of the filter.
- Allow water to filter completely before pouring or refilling reservoir.

- Hot water should not be used with the Brita® Pitcher Filter (Max. 85°F/29°C – Min. 32°F/0°C).

Filter Change Indicator (Dual Mode)
- To reset the indicator, press the STATUS button and hold it down.
- If using the standard Brita® filter (white), hold down the
- STATUS button for 2 seconds and then release.
- All lights will blink simultaneously twice, and then the green light next to STANDARD FILTER will blink three times by itself.
- This indicates that the standard filter mode (40 gallons) has been selected.
- If using the Brita® LONGLAST™ filter (blue in color), hold down the STATUS button for 6 seconds. Do ot release until the green light next to LONGLAST™ FILTER has blinked green three times by itself.
- This indicates that the LONGLAST™ filter mode (120 gallons) has been selected.
- If you accidentally select the incorrect mode, repeat the step
- 1 instructions above until you successfully select the mode that correlates with the filter being used.
- FILLING FOR PITCHERS WITH A “MAX FILL” LINE: Open the
- Fill Lid completely. Always fill the reservoir with water all the way to the provided “Max Fill” line. Close the Fill Lid.
- The indicator light will blink after each time you fill the reservoir and close the
- Fill Lid. A blinking green light indicates that the filter is good.*
- FILLING FOR LAKE PITCHER: Place center Fill Lid under faucet and fill the reservoir until the Fill Lid closes.
- Allow water to filter completely before pouring. The light will blink after water is poured from the pitcher. A blinking green light indicates that the filter is good.
- Check filter life status at any time by pressing Status button for 1 second and releasing.
- The light corresponding to current filter status will blink for 1 second.
- When 0% of the filter life remains, the red light next to REPLACE will blink, indicating the filter should be replaced.
- Replace the filter and reset the indicator (see step 1).
Filter Change Indicator (Single Mode)
- Reset your filter change indicator each time you replace your filter. Filter replacement is essential
- To reset (or activate) the indicator, press the STATUS button and hold it down for 8 seconds. Red, yellow and green lights will blink simultaneously.
- Release the STATUS button when only the green light blinks.
- Open the Fill Lid completely and fill the reservoir with water.
- Close the Fill Lid. If pitcher lid is removed to fill the reservoir, place on a flat surface while filling.
- Check filter life status at any time by pressing STATUS button for 1 second.
- The light will also blink after water is poured from the pitcher. After water is poured, one of the lights will blink.
- A blinking green light indicates that the filter is good.
- When 25% of filter life remains (480 pours completed),* the yellow light will blink, indicating the filter should be changed SOON.
- The light will continue to blink yellow through 1% of filter life remaining.
- When 0% of filter life remains (640 pours completed),* the red light will blink, indicating the filter should be replaced.
- Replace the filter and reset the indicator (see step 1).
Remember
- For maximum efficiency, filter no more than 2 gallons (7.5 liters) daily.
- We recommend that you store your Brita® system in the refrigerator to get cold, great-tasting water.
- If you would like to keep your Brita® system outside of the refrigerator, we recommend that you keep it in a cool area that is not in direct sunlight and replace any filtered water that has been left sitting for several days or more. This will help make sure you get refreshing, great-tasting Brita® water.
- It is important that the bottom of the filter be in contact with the filtered water to prevent the filter from drying out. If the filter dries out, resoak for 15 minutes.
