You can only use USB-C devices with a USB-C port.
The MacBook Pro is not compatible with the Anker USB C hub.
The HDMI cable is not compatible with the MacBook Pro.
If you don’t want to charge your laptop via the PD in port on the hub, you don’t have to connect a power adapter to the hub; the hub will draw the power needed from the laptop it’s connected to.
It is possible to use some USB hubs without a power supply, however, doing so may prevent the USB hub or certain high-power USB peripherals from operating. It is always recommended to use an included power supply with a USB hub when possible.
No drivers or software are required for the USB hub to work with your operating system. The USB hub works independently of software and works with any operating system.
The most advanced USB-C docking stations have newer ports with technologies, like Thunderbolt 3, that support faster charging and faster data transfer.
You can connect as many USB hubs as you want in a daisy chain. However, the number of devices that can be connected to each individual hub is limited. The maximum number of devices that can be connected to a single USB hub is 127. This includes both downstream and upstream devices.
Those latter two purposes don’t require much, but it can matter with just 12W to play with. When plugged into a USB-C power adapter, however, the dock can reserve up to 25.5W from up to 100W of power delivered through the adapter: 1.5W for itself and up to 12W for each of the Type-A ports.
