The base will chime and display the current kettle temperature; the current time will flash 0:00; the start time will show 19:99; the keep warm time will show 0; and the default temperature setting “212°F (100°C) Black Tea/Herbal Tea/Boil” will show.

Setting a Keep Warm Time

Press the KEEP WARM button anytime before the heating cycle ends. To set the desired Keep Warm time, press the KEEP WARM button until the desired Keep Warm time is displayed. Once the Keep Warm time has elapsed, the base will double-chime three times and shut off.
If kettle floor discolors: It is normal for stainless steel heating elements to discolor. This does not affect the performance of the Kettle. Do not use abrasive scouring pads or cleaners since this may damage the stainless steel surface.
If Kettle boils dry: The heating element is protected by two automatic safety devices. If your Kettle is accidentally switched on without being filled with water, or is allowed to boil dry, the Kettle will automatically switch off and display will show “—”.  You should:

  • Press ON/OFF (I/ ) button to turn OFF ( ), unplug, and wait about 20 minutes for the element to cool
  • Refill the kettle; then use as normal and check that the Kettle functions correctly.

If Kettle does not work: Make these simple checks before calling the toll-free customer assistance number:

  • Have you pressed the ON/OFF (I/ ) button to ON (l) position?
  • If the Kettle heats but does not boil, it might need descaling (see “Care and cleaning” section).
  • Has the Kettle been accidentally turned on without being filled with water or allowed to boil dry? Press the ON/OFF (I/ ) button to OFF ( ), wait 20 minutes, and try again.
  • Is cord firmly plugged into the outlet and Kettle firmly seated in the base?

Anti-Scale Mesh Filter: Scale is caused by lime and calcium in hard water. The Mesh Filter will prevent these  suspended particles from being poured  out of the Kettle. The filter should be  cleaned periodically to ensure optimum  performance.

Hamilton-Beach-41028-Variable-Temperature-Control-Electric-Tea-Kettle-fig-3

To clean the filter, unplug Kettle and  allow to cool. Pull up on the filter tab to  slide filter out.

To replace filter, line up the filter with tab towards the inside of the Kettle and slide into place until it snaps into place.

TEA GUIDE

  • Bring filtered or good-tasting tap water to a boil in the Kettle. Use 6 ounces (177 ml) of water per cup of tea.
  • If using loose tea instead of tea bags, measure 1 rounded teaspoon of tea per cup into an infuser and place the infuser in the cup. If no infuser is available, put the tea directly into the cup.
  • Pour heated water directly over the tea. For stronger tea, add more leaves rather than infusing longer than is recommended.

NOTE: Tea that is oversteeped will become bitter.
NOTE: These temperature settings can vary depending on a number of factors, such as altitude, impurities in the water, and the amount of water in the Kettle.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long should an Hamilton Beach 41028 electric tea kettle last?

A high-quality electric kettle has a maximum lifespan of 4 to 5 years on average. 2. Change in water’s flavour: If the water you’ve just boiled tastes metallic or if its colour is altering, it’s time to buy a new electric kettle.

What is the point of a Hamilton Beach 41028 variable temperature kettle?

For true tea connoisseurs, who place such a high value on temperature accuracy, the variable temperature kettle was developed. With the Smeg variable temperature kettle, you can adjust the water temperature between 50 and 100 degrees Celsius to make the ideal cup of tea.

Can you heat other liquids in an Hamilton Beach 41028 electric kettle?

The majority of electric kettles are made exclusively to heat and boil water, thus you shouldn’t use them to heat any other liquids. This is due to the fact that different liquids boil at various temperatures, therefore boiling liquids other than water may have an impact on the kettle’s functionality as well as the state of its inside.

What breaks on Hamilton Beach 41028 electric kettle?

Your electric kettle may stop working for a variety of reasons, including faulty wiring, broken coils, or loose connections. If there are any problems like these, replacement parts will probably be needed. Most manufactures discourage you from disassembling an electric kettle and performing repairs.

Can you set a temp on an Hamilton Beach 41028 electric kettle?

Water may be quickly and easily heated without a stove using electric kettles. Additionally, a lot of models allow you to choose an exact temperature, which is essential for obtaining the best flavour from coffee and tea.

What happens if you turn on an empty Hamilton Beach 41028 electric kettle?

When the thermostat reaches a specific temperature, it will accidentally interrupt the electric circuit and turn off the electric kettle if you turn it on without water. Once the kettle’s stainless steel bottom has cooled down over a period of time, it can be used again.

Can you leave an Hamilton Beach 41028 electric kettle plugged in?

Leaving it plugged into the electrical socket is acceptable. As soon as the water boils, it turns off. Not a hot pot at all. Just like your cup of wine, it will cool down.

It is advised that you clean your kettle before using it the first time by boiling a full kettle of water twice and then throwing the water away.

How do you clean the inside of an Hamilton Beach 41028 electric kettle?

Because they operate at high power, kettles take a lot of energy to boil water, but they finish the task fast (in around 2.5 minutes).
