ASSEMBLING THE CAMERA

Place the camera mount onto the camera base and insert the self-tapping screw through the white screw caps and screw the mount to the base in the pre-drilled holes, then close the cap. Repeat for both holes. Place the camera into the camera mount, align the camera with the 2 holes on both sides of the bracket and use the 4 screws to set the angle of your camera. Screw the antenna onto the back of the camera Now the camera is set up and ready for installation.FALCON-7-Inch-Digital-Mirror-Monitor-and-Wireless-Camera-FIG-4

INSTALLING THE CAMERA
Find a location where the camera base can rest fl at on the back of your vehicle and clean the area to make sure it is free of any dust or debris. Place the base and mark around the base with insulation tape. Apply the glue to the bottom of the camera base and place the camera base in the marked area. Scrape away any excess glue. Leave on for 1 hour.FALCON-7-Inch-Digital-Mirror-Monitor-and-Wireless-Camera-FIG-5

After an hour, remove the tape from around the camera base and remove any remaining excess adhesive with isopropyl rubbing alcohol or similar.

EVALUATION OF CABLE ENTRY
First, consider where and how you will get the cable into the van. If you already have a solar panel on the roof, you can remove the cable entry gland for the solar panel and use the solar gland to pass the camera’s twin cable through, avoiding adding more holes to your van. If you don’t have an existing cable entry gland on your roof then plan the location of your cable entry gland for the easiest access to a 12-volt supply.

Note – The 12 volt supply must work when towing, so make sure to connect to a permanent 12-volt supply. If you have a solar panel, you can get a feed from the solar controller if you don’t plan a route to the consumer battery.

PREPARATION FOR DRILLING THE CABLE ENTRY HOLE
Tape off the sheet metal area around the hole location to protect the paint. Drill a 3mm pilot hole and then a 12mm hole in its place. Remove any chips and clean the hole thoroughly, if the surface is metal, apply some petroleum jelly or paint around the hole to prevent corrosion. Run the cable through the cable entry and then through the new hole apply the adhesive to the base of the cable entry gland and gently apply pressure to the top of the cable entry gland sealing it against your roof, wipe away any excess adhesive and leave for 1 hour.FALCON-7-Inch-Digital-Mirror-Monitor-and-Wireless-Camera-FIG-6

SETTING UP & ATTACHING THE CAMERA
Once the camera base is firmly glued to the roof remove the caps off either side of the camera base and use the 2 self-tapping screws to further secure the base to the roof of the van. You may want to apply some glue to the screws and then attach the caps back to the base.FALCON-7-Inch-Digital-Mirror-Monitor-and-Wireless-Camera-FIG-7

TIDYING AWAY YOUR CABLES

Once your camera is installed and the cable has been run into your van you can now use a piece of cable trunking to hide away any exposed cables on your roof if your hole into the van is located away from your camera. Apply adhesive to the base of the trunking and place in the most direct path from the camera to the cable entry gland, apply a gentle amount of pressure to the trunking to spread the adhesive evenly and leave for 1 hour After 1 hour the trunking should be firmly attached to your roof, remove the trunking lid and run your cable through the trunking, then seal the lid of the trunking back on leaving a nice watertight and tidy finish to the roof of your van. We also recommend sealing the opening and closing end of the trunking with the adhesive to seal it from water or wind. Remove any excess adhesive with isopropyl rubbing alcohol or similar.FALCON-7-Inch-Digital-Mirror-Monitor-and-Wireless-Camera-FIG-8

CONNECTING THE POWER SUPPLY TO THE CAMERA
In the van, evaluate your route to your power outlet. Assess the position where you want your power button, mark and drill a 20mm hole. Feed the cable through the hole and cut to the required length, strip the cable at the 2 cut ends so you have 2 x red positive cables and 2 x negative cables.FALCON-7-Inch-Digital-Mirror-Monitor-and-Wireless-Camera-FIG-9

Put the 2 negative wires together and crimp on a female spade connector, then slide onto the brass pin in the diagram below, the left pin marked 20A. Add a female spade connector to the red cable coming down from the camera and slide it onto the pin marked DC (Camera) on the right. Add a spade female connector to the red that connects to the power supply and slide it onto the centre pin marked 12 volts.

PROTECTING YOUR CAMERA
To protect your camera from over voltage, use the in-line fuse holder between the positive of the battery and the positive input of the 12V switch.FALCON-7-Inch-Digital-Mirror-Monitor-and-Wireless-Camera-FIG-10
