2.3. Start-up procedure

1. Switch on the battery – “Shift+B” 2. Insert the reverser lever 3. With the reverser lever select the first motor I1 – “W” 4. Push starter button down 5. Push motor on button – the first motor must turn on 6. With the reverser lever select the second motor I2 – “W” 7. Push starter button down

8. Push motor on button – the second motor must turn on 9. With the reverser lever select both motors I1 + I2 – “W” 10. Insert the gear lever 11. Insert the train brake lever 12. Turn on the lights 13. The ÖBB 5081 is now ready

2.4. Change cab procedure
When you want to change the cab, you must take the reverser, gear and train brake lever with you to the cab on the other side.

1. Put the reverser in the neutral position 2. Take out the reverser lever 3. Put the gear lever on the “0” gear 4. Take out the gear lever 5. Put the train brake lever in the neutral position 6. Take out the train brake lever

7. Turn off the lights 8. Change the cab (use the right arrow key on the keyboard) 9. Insert the reverser lever and select both motor I1 + I2 in the direction you want to drive 10. Insert the gear lever 11. Insert the train brake lever 12. Turn on the lights

2.5. Gear lever
The ÖBB 5081 has six gears and between the gears is always the neutral gear.
2.6. Magnetic brake
The magnetic brake has two positions “Full” and “Half” and when you want to use it put the magnetic brake switch in the position you want. The magnetic brake will be automatically on if you put the train brake lever into the emergency position.
2.7. SIFA
You must confirm SIFA within 30 seconds from your last confirm. If it was not confirmed in 30 seconds then the emergency brake will be applied. Before the emergency brake will be applied the warning voice will turn on.
If the emergency brake is applied, then you must put the brake lever into the emergency position and press the SIFA button again.
