SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

Usage, maintenance, and installation of the product: for your safety, please refer to the respective section of these instructions or to the corresponding diagrams.
Read these instructions for use carefully before using your appliance for the first time and keep them to hand for future reference.

This appliance is intended for domestic household use only. In case of professional use, inappropriate use or failure to comply with the instructions, the manufacturer accepts no responsibility and the guarantee will not apply. Use indoors only.
It is not intended to be used in the following applications, and the guarantee will not apply for:
– staff kitchen areas in shops, offices, and other working environments; – farm houses;
– by clients in hotels, motels, and other residential type environments;
– bed and breakfast type environments.

This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance and use the appliance as a toy.
This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.

Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years.
For your safety, this appliance meets applicable standards and regulations (Directives on Low Voltage, Electromagnetic Compatibility, Materials in contact with food articles, Environment, etc.).

Make sure that the electric power supply is compatible with the power rating and voltage indicated on the bottom of the appliance.
Any connection error will invalidate your guarantee.

Always plug the appliance into a socket outlet with an earth connection.
Given the diverse standards in effect, if the appliance is used in a country other than that in which it is purchased, have it checked by an Approved Service Centre.

Remove all packaging materials, stickers, and accessories from inside and outside of the appliance. 15
The appliance must be placed and used on a flat, stable, heat-resistant work surface, away from water splashes.

Unwind the power cord fully before use.
Do not use an extension lead. If you accept liability for doing so, only use an extension lead that is in good condition, has a plug with an earth connection and is suited to the power rating of the appliance.

This appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system.
Never immerse the appliance or its power cord in water or any other liquid.

Do not immerse the appliance in water.
Never leave the appliance unattended whilst connected to the power supply, even if for a few moments, especially where children are present.

Never leave the appliance unattended when in use.
Do not let the power cord hang where children may reach it.

Take all necessary precautions to prevent anyone from tripping over an extension cord.
Switch off and disconnect the appliance from the power supply when not in use.

Never disconnect the plug by pulling on the power cord.
Inspect the appliance and power cord for signs of wear or damage prior to connecting to the power supply.

If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a special cable or unit available from the manufacturer or its after-sales service.
Any intervention other than normal cleaning and maintenance by the customer must be performed by an Approved Service Centre.

Accessible surface temperatures can be high when the appliance is operating, Never touch these surfaces, always use the handles.
Never move the appliance as long as it is hot.
Allow the appliance to cool down completely before you clean and store it.
The power cord must never be close to or in contact with hot parts of the appliance, close to a source of heat, or resting on sharp edges.
Never place the appliance close to a wall or below a wall cupboard.
Never place the appliance below or close to easily inflammable objects (e.g. curtains, etc.).
If parts of the appliance should catch fire, never try to extinguish flames with water. Disconnect the appliance and smother the flames with a damp cloth.
Do not consume foodstuff that comes into contact with the parts marked with the logo.

Read the instructions carefully, common to different versions depending on the accessories supplied with your appliance, and keep them within reach.
If the appliance is used in the center of the table, keep it out of the reach of children.
Make sure the appliance is placed on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface before using it.
If an accident occurs, rinse the burn immediately with cold water and call a doctor if necessary.
Cooking fumes may be dangerous for animals that have a particularly sensitive respiratory system, such as birds. We advise bird owners to keep them away from the cooking area.
Always use a wooden or plastic spatula to avoid damaging the cooking plate (14).
In order to avoid deterioration of the plate, use it only as it was designed to be used (for example, do not place it in an oven or on a stove, whether it be gas or electric). Use only the plate provided with the appliance or a plate bought at an authorized Service Centre.

Check that the plate is stable and correctly positioned on the base of the appliance.
Before first use, wash the plate (see paragraph After Use), pour a small amount of cooking oil on it, and wipe off any excess oil with a soft cloth.
Be careful where you place the electric power cord, whether you use an extension or not. Take all the necessary precautions in order not to hinder people from moving around the table, so that nobody gets tangled or trips over the cord.
Do not

Never leave the appliance unattended when plugged in or in use.
To prevent the appliance from overheating, do not place it in a corner or against a wall.
Never place the appliance directly on a fragile surface (glass table, tablecloth, varnished furniture, etc.) or on a soft surface such as a tea towel.

Never place the appliance on or near hot or slippery surfaces; never leave the cord hanging over a heat source (hotplates, gas stove, etc.).
Do not place cooking utensils on the cooking surfaces of the appliance.
Never use a knife to cut directly over the plate. Do not place the plate on a fragile surface or underwater when it is hot.

Do not move the appliance when in use.
Do not use aluminum foil or other objects between the plate and the food being cooked.
Do not cook food in aluminum foil.

To avoid spoiling your product, do not use flambé recipes in connection with it at any time.
Do not use metal scourers or scouring powders to avoid damaging the cooking surface.
Do not remove the juice collection tray during cooking.

If the juice collection tray gets filled during cooking, let the contents cool before emptying it.

Advice / information

Do not consume foodstuff that comes into contact with the parts marked with the logo.

Using

Unwind the cord completely.

Fit the removable plate onto the base of the appliance (3). Make sure that it is in the right position; the drainage slots should be at the front, above the juice tray. (4-5).
Place the juice collection tray in the cooking position (6-7-8).
Set the thermostat to the mini position (9).

Attach the power cord to the product, and then plug it in (10-11).
Set the thermostat to suit the chosen recipe (12).
Pre-heat the appliance for about 10 minutes (12-13).

The appliance will be ready for use once it is preheated.
Thermo-Spot TM the Thermo-Spot turns solid red when the appliance is perfectly preheated and ready to cook (*depending on model) (13).

After use

Before unplugging the appliance, set the thermostat on position mini (16).
Unplug the power cord, disconnect it from the appliance (17-18), and allow it to cool for 2 hours (19).
The base of the appliance must be cleaned with a sponge and a little washing-up liquid. Do not use scouring pads (22).

The plate and juice collection tray must be cleaned after each use, either with your usual washing-up liquid (no scouring pad and powder or metallic sponge) (22) or in the dishwasher (24).
Do not place the base of the appliance or its cord in the dishwasher (23).
If the heating element is really dirty, rub it with a dry cloth when cold.

Check that the appliance has cooled down completely and that it is unplugged before putting it away.
Place the juice tray in the front of the appliance under the plate.
Store the appliance and the power cord in a dry place.
