The term “power tool” in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.

Work area safety

  • Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
  • Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Power tools create sparks that may ignite dust or fumes.
  • Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.

Electrical safety

  • Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and
    matching outlets will reduce the risk of electric shock.
  • Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges, and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
  • Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions.
    Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
  • Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
  •  When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. The use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock..
  • If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual current device (RCD) protected supply. The use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.

Personal safety

  • Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
  • Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as dust masks, non-skid safety shoes, hard hats, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
  • Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to a power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energizing power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
  • Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.
  • Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
  • Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair, clothing, and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry or long hair can be caught in moving parts.

Power tool use and care

  • Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.

  • Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
  • Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s operation.
    If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
  • Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.|

Service

  • Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained. Tacker safety warnings
  • Always assume that the tool contains fasteners. Careless handling of the tacker can result in the unexpected firing of fasteners and personal injury.
  • Do not point the tool toward yourself or anyone nearby. Unexpected triggering will discharge the fastener causing an injury.
  • Do not actuate the tool unless the tool is placed firmly against the workpiece. If the tool is not in contact with the workpiece, the fastener may be deflected away from your target.
  • Disconnect the tool from the power source when the fastener jams in the tool. While removing a jammed fastener, the tacker may be accidentally activated if it is plugged in.
  • Use caution while removing a jammed fastener. The mechanism may be under compression and the fastener may be forcefully discharged while attempting to free a jammed condition.
  • Do not use this tacker for fastening electrical cables. It is not designed for electric cable installation and may damage the insulation of electric cables thereby causing electric shock or fire hazards.
  • Use suitable detectors to determine if there are hidden supply lines or contact the local utility company for assistance. Contact with electric cables can cause fire and electric shock. Damaging gas lines can lead to explosions. Breaking water pipes causes property damage.
  • In case of damage and improper use of the battery, vapors may be emitted. The battery can set alight or explode. Ensure the area is well ventilated and seek medical attention should you experience any adverse effects. The vapors may irritate the respiratory system.
  • Do not open the battery. There is a risk of short-circuiting.
  • The battery can be damaged by pointed objects such as nails or screwdrivers or by force applied externally. An internal short circuit may occur, causing the battery to burn, smoke, explode or overheat.
  • Only use the battery with products from the manufacturer. This is the only way in which you can protect the battery against dangerous overload.

Intended Use
The power tool is intended for connecting work in roofing, encasing and battening, as well as manufacturing wall and ceiling elements, wood facades, pallets, wood fences, noise reduction walls and boxes. Only the fasteners (nails, staples, etc.) specified in the “Technical Data” table may be used.
Note: The power tool is not suitable for driving nails into metal or concrete.
GNH 18V-64 M: Please do not use the power tool in contact actuation mode with an automatic return while working on scaffolding, ladders or other platforms and when a  hange of working position is required. In this case, only use the single actuation mode with a backup sequence.

The stated vibration level and noise emission value represent the main applications of the power tool. Assembly

Battery Charging

  • Use only the chargers listed in the technical data. Only these chargers are matched to the lithium-ion battery of your power tool.

Note: The battery is supplied partially charged. To ensure full battery capacity, fully charge the battery in the charger before using your tool for the first time.
The lithium-ion battery can be charged at any time without reducing its service life. Interrupting the charging process does not damage the battery.
The lithium-ion battery is protected against deep discharge by “Electronic Cell Protection (ECP)”. A protective circuit switches off the product in which the battery is being used when the battery is discharged. No more fasteners are discharged.

  • Do not continue to press the trigger switch after the tool has been automatically switched off. This can damage the battery.
    Follow the instructions on correct disposal.

Removing the Battery

The rechargeable battery (7) is equipped with two locking levels to prevent the rechargeable battery from falling out if the rechargeable battery release button (6) is pressed unintentionally. The rechargeable battery is held in place by a spring when fitted into the power tool. – To remove the rechargeable battery (7), press the release button (6) and pull the battery out of the power tool. Do not use force to do this.

Battery charge indicator

The green LEDs on the battery charge indicator indicate the state of charge of the battery. For safety reasons, it is only possible to check the state of charge when the power tool is not in operation.
Press the button for the battery charge indicator on or 18V-64 GNH Professional Brushless Li-Ion Cordless 18V Nailer Nail Gun-1bataru to show the state of charge. This is also possible when the battery is removed.
If no LED lights up after pressing the button for the battery charge indicator, then the battery is defective and must be replaced.

Loading the magazine (see figures A1–A4)

  •  Remove the rechargeable battery before adjusting the tool settings, changing accessories, or storing the power tool. This safety measure prevents the power tool
    from being started accidentally.
    Use only original Bosch accessories. The precision parts of the power tool, such as the magazine, the outlet and the shot duct, are matched to Bosch staples, nails and brads. Other manufacturers use different steel grades and sizes.
    Using unapproved fasteners can damage the power tool and cause injuries.
    While loading the magazine, hold the power tool in such a manner that the outlet (15) is not pointed at your body or at other persons.
    – Clean the magazine slider (13) as required and make sure that the magazine (12) is not contaminated.
    – Insert a suitable nail strip (16) in the T-slot at the end of the magazine (12).
    – Push the nail strip forwards in the magazine until the last nail is positioned in front of the magazine spring (17).
    Note: A lock function of the magazine slider prevents the power tool from being started with an empty magazine. The discharge lock-off cannot be pressed down and blank firing is thus prevented.
    – Press the pre-tensioned nail pusher (14) against the magazine slider (13) and, at the same time, pull the magazine slider completely to the end of the magazine (12).
    Note: The magazine slider must slide back with only low force (finger pressure). A tight-running magazine slider causes the nails to be driven in at an incorrect angle.
    – With the nail pusher (13) pressed, carefully guide the magazine slider (14) forwards until the nail pusher is over the last nail, thus pushing the nail strip in the magazine completely to the front.
    Note: Do not let the magazine slider snap back without guiding it. This could damage the magazine slider and there is a risk of getting your fingers caught.

Operation

Actuation systems
Single actuation with safety run
With this actuation system, the discharge lock-off (2) must first be firmly pressed against the workpiece. A fastener is not discharged until the trigger (5) is pulled.
Afterward, further discharging procedures can only be actuated when the trigger and the discharge lock-off have been set back to the starting position.

Contact actuation with automatic return (GNH 18V-64 M)
With this actuation system, the trigger (5) must be pulled first and held in this position. Afterward, the discharge lock-off must be firmly pressed against the workpiece in order to discharge the fastener. (5)Further discharging procedures can be actuated by repositioning it elsewhere, while the trigger is pushed. In contact actuation mode, a nail can also be driven in with single actuation.

Starting Operation
Right Remove the rechargeable battery before adjusting the tool settings, changing accessories, or storing the power tool. This safety measure prevents the power tool from being started accidentally.
Inserting the Battery
– Push the charged battery (7) into the battery bay of the power tool until the battery is securely locked.
Switching On and Off (see figure B1B2)
– To switch on the power tool, press the on/off switch button (18) for at least 1 second.
The on/off switch display (19) lights up green.
GNH 18V-64 M: If single actuation is activated, the display (20) lights up white.
– To switch off the power tool, press the on/off switch button (18) for at least 1 second.
Discharging the nails – single actuation (see figure B1B2)
– Switch on the power tool.
– Firmly position the outlet (15) or the rubber workpiece protector (1) on the workpiece until the discharge lock-off (2) is pressed down completely.
–Afterwards, briefly press the trigger (5) and release it again.
This discharges a nail.
– Allow the power tool to bounce back from the workpiece.
– For another driving procedure, completely lift the power tool from the workpiece and position it firmly at the next required location.
Discharging the nails – contact actuation (see figure B1)

– Switch on the power tool.
– Activate the contact actuation by briefly pressing the on/ off switch button (18).
The contact actuation display (21) lights up white.
– Press and hold the trigger (5).
– Firmly position the outlet (15) or the rubber workpiece
protector (1) on the workpiece until the discharge lock-off (2) is pressed down completely.
This discharges a nail.
–For another discharging procedure, keep the trigger (5) pressed and completely lift the power tool from the workpiece. Replace it firmly in the next required position.

Working Advice
Right Remove the rechargeable battery before adjusting the
tool settings, changing accessories, or storing the
power tool. This safety measure prevents the power tool from being started accidentally. Before starting work, always check that the safety and actuation devices are functioning correctly and that all screws and nuts are tightly seated. If a power tool is defective or not functioning properly, disconnect it immediately from the power supply and contact an authorized Bosch after-sales service center. Do not perform any incorrect manipulations on the power tool. Do not disassemble or block any components of the power tool, such as the discharge lock-off. Do not carry out “emergency repairs” with unsuitable means. The power tool is to be maintained regularly and properly. Avoid any tampering and damage to the power tool, e. g. from:

  • Imprinting or engraving,
  • Retrofitting measures not approved by the manufacturer,
  • Guiding along templates manufactured of hard material, e.g. steel,
  • Dropping on or sliding over the floor,
  • Using as a hammer,
  • Applying any kind of force.

Make sure to check whatever is below or behind your workpiece. Do not shoot nails into walls, ceilings or floors, when persons are behind them. The nails can burst through the workpiece and injure someone. Do not shoot a nail onto an already driven-in one. This could cause the nail to deform, the nails could become jammed or the power tool could move in an uncontrolled manner. When the power tool is used under cold ambient conditions, the first nails will be driven in slower than usual. Once the power tool has armed up during working, normal operating speed will be regained. Avoid pulling the trigger when the magazine is empty to minimize wear on the firing pin. For longer work breaks or after finishing work, switch off the power tool, remove the battery and empty the magazine if possible.

Emptying the magazine (see figures C1–C2)

  • With the nail pusher (13) pressed, pull the magazine
    slider (14) backward until the last nail is free; then carefully guide the magazine slider forwards to the
    beginning of the magazine (12).
    Note: Do not let the magazine slider snap back without guiding it. This could damage the magazine slider and there is a risk of getting your fingers caught.
  • Turn the power tool so that the nails in the magazine slide back to the magazine spring (17).
  • Press the magazine spring down and allow the nails to slide past the nail pusher (14) out of the magazine (12).

Adjusting the depth stop (see figure D)
The driving depth of the nails can be set with the thumbwheel (4).
– Empty the magazine (12).

Clearing jams (see figures E1–E2)
Single nails can become jammed in the shot duct. If this should occur frequently, please contact an authorized Bosch after-sales service center.
Note: If the driver blade does not return after clearing a jam,  please contact an authorized Bosch after-sales service center.
– Release the trigger (5).
– Switch the power tool off and remove the battery (7).
– Empty the magazine (12).
– Press the clamping lever (3) down so that the shot duct opens.
– Remove the jammed nail. Use a pair of pliers for this, if required.
–Close the shot duct, hang the clip of the clamping lever (3) into the hooks on the shot duct and then push the clamping lever up again.
– Refill the magazine.
Changing the workpiece protector (see figure F) The workpiece protector (1) at the end of the discharge lock-off and (2) protects the workpiece until the power tool is correctly placed for the discharging procedure. The workpiece protector can be removed and replaced
–Release the trigger (5).
– Switch the power tool off and remove the battery (7).
– Empty the magazine (12).
– Remove the workpiece protector from the discharge lock-off.
–Push the new workpiece protector with the open end over the discharge lock-off.

Maintenance Schedule
– Clean the magazine (12). Remove plastic or wood shavings that may accumulate in the magazine during work.
Note: A spare workpiece protector can be stored on top of the magazine (12). For this, push the workpiece protector into the storage compartment (10). Transport and Storage
For transport, switch off the power tool; especially when us- ing ladders or moving in an unusual stance or posture. At the workplace, carry the power tool only by the handle (8) and with the trigger (5) released. Always store the power tool disconnected from the battery and in a dry and warm location. When not using the power tool for an extended period of time, apply a fine oil coating to steel parts. This prevents the formation of rust.

Rectifying Faults

The nails are driven in too deep. The following components may be faulty
– Trigger (5)
–  Driver blade
– Motor or drive belt – Electronics
– Contact an authorized Bosch after-sales service center. Have the component replaced there.
Foreign objects have accumulated in the shot mechanism. – Contact an authorized Bosch after-sales service center. Have the component replaced there.
Foreign objects have accumulated in the outlet (15) or in the magazine (12). – Clean the outlet (15) or the magazine (12).
A nail is jammed in the shot duct. – Clear the jam.(see “Clearing jams
(see figures El-E2)”, page 21)
The magazine slider (13) is defective. – Clean the magazine slider (13) as required and make sure that the magazine (12) is not contaminated.
The spring of the magazine slider is too weak or defective. – Contact an authorized Bosch after-sales service center. Have the component replaced there.
The fasteners being used are not ap- proven. – Use only original accessories. Only
the fasteners (nails, staples. etc.) specified in the “Technical Data” table may be used.
The magazine (12) is empty. – Refill the magazine.(see “Loading the
magazine (see figures Al-A4)”, page 20)
The nails are not driven in deep. The depth stop is set too deep. – Adjust the depth stop to the required depth.(see” Adjusting the depth stop (see figure D)”, page 21)
The buffer is worn. – Contact an authorized Bosch after-sales service center. Have the component replaced there.
The nails are not driven in deep enough. The battery is discharged or defective. – Fully recharge the battery or replace it.
The fasteners are too long. – Use only original accessories. Only
the fasteners (nails, staples, etc.) specified in the “Technical Data” table may be used.
The depth stop is set too high. – Adjust the depth stop to the required depth.(see “Adjusting the depth stop (see figure D)”, page 21)
The power tool skips nails or has a cycle
feed that is too large.

Transport
The contained lithium-ion batteries are subject to the Dangerous Goods Legislation requirements. The batteries are suitable for road transport by the user without further restrictions. When shipping by third parties (e.g.: by air transport or forwarding agency), special requirements on packaging and labelling must be observed. For preparation of the item being shipped, consulting an expert for hazardous material is required. Dispatch battery packs only when the housing is undamaged. Tape or mask off open contacts and pack up the battery in such a manner that it cannot move around in the packaging. Please also observe the possibility of more detailed national regulations.
