Overview
These instructions are for the installation of the MUTO PREMIUM sliding door system XL150/80 for the following mounting and style versions:
Recessed mounting
General information
- dormakaba requires the use of tempered monolithic or tempered laminated glass.
- dormakaba glass hardware is not suitable for application in rooms where chemicals (e.g. chlorine) are used as indoor swimming pools, saunas or salt-water pools.
- Never move sliding panels faster than walking speed and always stop the door manually before it reaches the end position.
- Do not slide doors with excessive force. Install a limiting stop to prevent the door from opening too far.
Intended use
- For sliding doors in dry indoor areas only
- For manual slowly opening and closing only
Glass requirements and fittings
- The substructure/wall must be able to bear permanent loads and be level (max. tolerance: 1/16” [2] per 39” [1m]).
- Fasteners must be sufficiently dimensioned for the substructure/wall and the weight of the door.
- When adjusting glass components, always stick to the required clearance for the respective hardware. Adjust clearance so the glass does not come in contact with any hard surfaces such as glass, metal or concrete.
- Do not use excessive force when installing the glass (avoid over-tightening screws).
Requirements for glass panel
- dormakaba requires the use of fully tempered glass, which complies with ASTM C 1036 and ASTM C 1048. Secondary heat-soaking processes are recommended but not required. This applies to both tempered monolithic and tempered laminated glass.
- Clamping area must be flat and uncoated (no self-cleaning coating!)
- Never use glass with conchoidal fractures and/or damaged edges.
Safety instructions
- Installation requires two people.
- Always wear protective clothing.
- Only properly qualified and specially trained staff are authorized to mount dormakaba glass hardware.
- Due to crushing hazards and possible injury caused by breakage of glass during mounting, corresponding protective clothing (especially gloves and protective goggles) is required.
- Never clamp metal fitting hardware directly to a glass surface.

Maintenance, care, repair
- Immediately replace damaged parts.
- Always use original dormakaba parts.
- Clean clamping area with alcohol-based standard commercial cleaning agent before mounting the glass hardware.
- Use a damp clothe for occasional cleaning, especially the track.
- Always use silicone – and oil-free cleaners (e.g. acetone).
- Check glass hardware at regular intervals for proper positioning smooth operation and correct adjustment.
- High-traffic door systems require inspection by properly qualified staff (specialized companies or installation firms.)
Disposal
Disposal in accordance with local, state and national regulations.

Installing the end stops
- The slide end stops into each end of the track.
NOTE: Loosen the bottom section of an end stop for easier installation.
NOTE: FOR XL150 end stops, be sure the set screw is flush with the back of the end stops.
NOTE: Exact location/adjustments will be determined in the Adjustment End Stop Location step.
Securing gasket to track
- Ensure the track is cut to the proper length.
- Cut adhesive gasket equal to sidelite glass width.
- Adhere gasket along the bottom edge of back of the track.

Securing sidelite section profile to track
- Align sidelite profile holes with track profile holes.
NOTE: Holes will be predrilled every 7-7/8” [200]. - Secure with 9/16” (14) fasteners provided.
NOTE: Be sure fastener heads are flush with track to avoid rollers catching protruding fasteners.
Secure track and sidelite extrusion into ceiling (and drop ceiling extrusion, if supplied)
Specifications for securing track to the mounting surface
- Ensure the track is properly level and secure it to the header mounting surface per the appropriate measurements on the following page.
- Use appropriate fasteners according to the following recommendations.
NOTE: SEE DIMENSION INSTRUCTIONS ON THE NEXT PAGE FOR REFERENCE.
NOTE:
OVERHEAD REINFORCEMENT:
The overhead reinforcement must be a minimum of ¼” [6] x 3” [76] steel angle, 16 gauge metal stud, or two pieces of 1 1/2” [38] thick wood blocking (double stacked), secured to studs or joists on a maximum 16” [406] centers for the length of the track. The overhead reinforcement may be flush on the overhead surface or on the interior of this surface.
Track mounting screws must fully penetrate the steel angle, metal stud, or at a minimum of 2” [51] into wood blocking, utilizing the predrilled holes in the MUTO track.
Consult with a structural engineer to determine if reinforcement is adequate for your specific application or to meet specific codes in your location.
Door/wall dimensions
Installing U-channel for sidelite
- Install gaskets as shown. Trim to correct length.
- Secure the u-channel to the floor using appropriate fasteners.
NOTE: Ensure u-channel is plumb and the back of the u-channel profile aligns with the back of the sideline profile.
NOTE: Gaskets are pre-installed.
Installing sidelight glass
- Place setting blocks into the u-channel.
- Spray the inside of the U-channel with glass cleaner.
- Lift the glass up and into the sideline profile.
- Lower glass into u-channel.
- Ensure there is a 1/8″ [3] gap between wall and edge of sidelight glass.
- If using tempered laminated glass, gently press a glass against the U-channel gasket, and dispense silicone along the full length of a non-gasket side of u-channel.
Installing sidelight glass filler panel
- Fit the filler panel between an empty section of the track and delete a profile, on the door side.
Installing sidelight glass gasket
Installing roller carriers: on monolithic glass ONLY
DETERMINE THE LEADING (X) VERSUS TRAILING (Z) EDGE OF THE GLASS. “LEADING IS SIDE CLOSEST TO LATCH CLOSED.”
NOTE: FULLY CLEAN THE SURFACE OF GLASS WITH AN ALCOHOL-BASED MILD GLASS AND SURFACE CLEANER. ENSURE NO DEBRIS IS ON THE GASKET.
NOTE: ENSURE ROLLER CARRIERS ARE FREE OF DEBRIS.
- Slide roller carriers onto glass.
- Slide glass gasket and metal shim between glass and roller carrier.
- Secure roller carriers to glass at 10 ft-lbs (14 Nm).
NOTE: Orient gasket with rubber side facing the glass.
Installing roller carriers: on tempered laminate glass ONLY
DETERMINE THE LEADING (X) VERSUS TRAILING (Z) EDGE OF THE GLASS. “LEADING IS SIDE CLOSEST TO LATCH CLOSED.”
NOTE: THE RECOMMENDED ADHESIVE SET-UP TIME IS 20 MINUTES FOR THE DUO-PAK CARTRIDGES. NOTE: USE 1:1 RATIO PLUNGER WITH THE 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Urethane Adhesive.
NOTE: FULLY CLEAN THE SURFACE OF GLASS WITH AN ALCOHOL-BASED MILD GLASS AND SURFACE CLEANER. ENSURE NO DEBRIS IS ON THE GASKET.
NOTE: ENSURE ROLLER CARRIERS ARE FREE OF DEBRIS.
- Slide carriers onto glass.
- Replace the existing gasket with a TLG gasket.
- Slide laminated glass gasket and metal shim between glass and roller carrier.
NOTE: Orient gasket with rubber side facing the glass. - Replace existing set screws with vented set screws.
- Tighten vented set screws at 4 ft lbs (5Nm).
NOTE: Onto scrap material, first dispense approximately 12” of 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Urethane Adhesive before application to prevent mixing errors and ensure optimal hardening. - Dispense into vented set screws on both sides of the carrier.
Stop application when the adhesive can be seen past the edge of the roller carrier.
DO NOT WIPE any excess adhesive from a glass surface. Allow the adhesive to dry and scrape off the glass surface with a bevelled-edge chisel or putty knife.
NOTE: Keep the glass flat during the curing process.
NOTE: See chart in Specifications section for appropriate curing time.
Installing the PROMOTION trigger block
NOTE: Determine a pin length based on how square and plumb the opening is.
- If required, change the pin in the start/stop assembly.
- Remove hex screws.
- Remove the existing pin and plate.
- Swap in the appropriate pin and plate.
- Replace hex screws.
- Slide the trigger block onto the glass.
- Center equally between the carriers.
- Slide glass gasket between trigger block and glass.
NOTE: Orient with gasket-facing glass. - Secure start/stop via set screws.
Disengaging the anti-jump
- Disengage the anti-jump on the roller carrier.
NOTE: Using the optional ratchet and [one of the] provided bits, push the anti-jump adjustment screw IN and turn COUNTER-CLOCKWISE 90° to disengage the anti-jump.
Install glass/rollers in track
ENSURE ROLLERS AND TRACK ARE FREE OF DEBRIS
- Place glass on setting blocks on floor for stability.
- Lift glass and rollers up and rest rollers on track.
Install floor guide
REMEMBER ANTI-JUMP IS DISENGAGED
- Align the centerline of the glass with the centerline of the floor guide.
- Be sure the glass is plumb.
- Mark appropriate floor guide measurements.
- TEMPORARILY REMOVE GLASS AND ROLLERS FROM THE TRACK (TO ALLOW FOR DRILLING SPACE).
- Pre-drill into the mounting surface using a 5/16″ drill bit.
- Secure floor guide anchor with included fasteners.
Install floor guide: continued
- SET GLASS AND ROLLERS BACK ONTO TRACK.
- Slide the floor guide over the floor guide anchor and tighten with set screws.
- Remove setting blocks.
NOTE: Be sure the glass is centred in the floor guide. - Adjust using set screws.
Engaging anti-jump
- Engage anti-jump on roller carrier.
NOTE: Using the optional ratchet and [one of the] provided bits, push the anti-jump adjustment screw IN and turn CLOCKWISE 90° to engage the anti-jump.
Adjustment door height
- Set the height of the glass door.
- Using the optional ratchet and [one of the] provided bits, loosen the height adjustment locking screws of the carrier.
- Using the optional ratchet and [one of the] provided bits, turn the height adjustment screw CLOCKWISE or COUNTER-CLOCKWISE to raise or lower the glass.
NOTE: Be sure the glass is level during this adjustment.

Install DORMOTION units
RH Dormotion -door closed
- Rotate RH DM fastening plates.
- Using a 4 mm hex key, loosen fastening plate hex screws.
- Rotate fastening plates until they are parallel to the DM unit (Fig. 21.2)
- Snug hex screws.
Move the door to the close position
- For installation of the RH DM unit, the door must be in the closed position against bumper.
Align DM unit in track, engage DM hook in DM trigger.
- Align DM unit in track (Fig. 21.7).
- Slide DM unit over the DM trigger block until the DM hook engages the DM trigger (Fig. 21.4)
Use adjustment tool to set the DM unit final position
- Place adjustment tool flat against DM unit with fork between DM hook and DM end stop (Fig. 21.5). • Slide DM unit over until hook and DM end stop are against the fork. This sets 5 mm gap (fork gap).
- Trigger height: Adjust so the trigger sets on top of the adjustment tool (Para. 2.22).
Secure the DM unit in position
NOTE: Ensure the door is fully closed against the bumper before performing this step.
- Using 4 mm hex key, tighten DM unit fastening plate socket head cap screws. Fastening plates must engage the track (Fig. 21.6 and .8).
Torque
Socket head cap screws 3 ft lbs [4 Nm]
LH Dormotion -door open
Rotate DM fastening plates.
- Using 4 mm hex key, loosen fastening plate hex screws.
- Rotate fastening plates until they are parallel to the DM unit (Fig. 21.10)
- Snug hex screws.
Move the door to the open position.
- For installation of LH DM unit, door must be in the open position against bumper.
Align DM unit in track, engage DM hook in DM trigger
- Align DM unit in track (Fig. 21.15).
- Slide DM unit over the DM trigger block until the DM hook engages the DM trigger (Fig. 21.12)
Set DM unit final position
- Place adjustment tool flat against the DM unit with a fork between DM hook and DM end stop (Fig. 21.13).
- Slide the DM unit over until the hook and DM end stop are against the fork.
- This sets 5 mm gap (fork gap).
- Trigger height: Adjust so the trigger sets on top of the adjustment tool (Para. 2.22).
Secure the DM unit in position
NOTE: Insure door is fully open against the bumper before performing this step.
- Using 4 mm hex key, tighten DM unit fastening plate socket head cap screws . Fastening plates must engage the track (Fig. 21.16).
Adjust start/stop pin height (in necessary)
Secure drop ceiling extrusion to cover
Pre-drill holes through cover groove into drop ceiling extrusion.
- End holes: approximately 2” [51] from end of cover
- All other holes: approximately 12” [305] apart
Install recessed cover clips
- Slide cover clips on from end of cover.
- Tighten with screw. Be sure not to damage cover.
NOTE: 1 clip per two feet of cover extrusion.
Install brush profile
- Measure and cut brush to appropriate length.
- Slide brush into cover.
Install view protection clips
- Measure and cut view protection profile to fit into empty sliding portion of track – 3/16” [5].
- Snap view protection clips onto inside of cover as shown.
- Use minimum 1 clip per foot of profile.
Exception: If profile is minimum of 1 foot [305] in length, use 2 clips.
Cover spacers
- Tip cover spacers into outter most edge of track.
- Place one at each end of track as shown.
- Tighten at at 1 ft lbs [1Nm] or hand tighten.
Install cover and view protection profile
Install cover
- Insert back prong lip of recessed cover clip into groove first.
- Rotate cover assembly up and then snap front prong lip of clip into track groove.
- Once cover is in place, tip view protection profile up in between track and cover.
- Snap down into cover and onto track as shown.
Install end caps
