  • WARNING: A warning alerts you to a situation that could result in serious personal injury or death.
  • CAUTION: A caution alerts you to a situation that may result in minor personal injury or damage to the product and/or property.
  • NOTE: A note is used to highlight procedures pertaining to the installation, operation, or maintenance of the product.
  • WARNING: Failure to read, understand and follow the following information can result in serious personal injury, damage to the equipment or voiding of the warranty.
  • CAUTION: To avoid an unstable condition, place heavier components at the bottom of the enclosure. When more than one component is placed in the enclosure, begin at the bottom of the enclosure and place equipment at the lowest available point, evenly distribute weight (horizontally) within the enclosure. Component weight should be distributed as follows:
  • 1/2 of the total component weight (at a minimum) placed in the bottom third of the cabinet.
  • 1/4 of the total component weight (at a maximum) placed in the middle third of the cabinet.
  • 1/4 of the total component weight (at a maximum) placed in the top third of the cabinet.

  • SEISMIC COMPLIANCE: An engineered system is vital to achieve seismic rating requirements. A licensed professional engineer nmust approve the type of fasteners for the wall where the rack will be mounted. Braced according to specifications set forth by licensed architects and engineers, the Middle Atlantic Products rack/enclosure you purchased is capable of sustaining a phenomenal lateral load. Refer to the seismic data published on seismic letter on the Middle Atlantic Product website.
  • CAUTION: To reduce the risk of personal injury and conform to the UL listing these mounting instructions must be followed and proper weight capacity must be observed (see table below). As a general rule, heavier equipment should be placed towards the bottom of the rack.
  • CAUTION: Individual components mounted inside of the wall mount rack must have their own fire enclosure.

INSTALLING BACKPAN TO WALL

CAUTION: The backpan must be installed plumb and level for proper operation.
NOTE: A left or right rack swing direction is contingent upon the location of the pivot bushings.
TIP: Determine the desired swing direction of the rack before mounting the backpan onto the wall.

NOTE: The backpan (A) of all DWR enclosures must be screwed to studs using the first step of this topic, except for DWRs up to 26” (660 mm) overall depth, which may be mounted to studs or a concrete wall using appropriate fasteners (not provided).

  1. Use a power driver, socket, and 3/8” diameter 2” (51 mm) minimum length lag bolts, standard flat washers (lag bolts and washers not provided) to mount your backpan (A) to the wall as shown. (FIGURE A)
    NOTE:
    • Your backpan must have a minimum of 4” (102 mm) clearance on the top (to ceiling) and bottom (to floor).
    • Standard flat washers must be installed directly under the lag bolt heads.
    • For the number of mounting holes required, see the “Weight Rating” table on page 3. All of the mounting holes specified for your enclosure model must be used.
    • Verify your power driver torque is on the lightest setting and only increase as necessary.MIDDLE ATLANTIC DWR-35-26PD Pivoting Wall Rack 2
    • FOR 24 and 35 RU DWRs ONLY: Feet are provided and should be used when mounting in close proximity to the floor; approx. 4” (102 mm) from the floor. By doing so, the feet assist in reducing the weight of the enclosure from the mounting hardware, especially when the rack is heavily loaded.MIDDLE ATLANTIC DWR-35-26PD Pivoting Wall Rack 3
  2. Use power driver and a #2 Phillips bit to remove the screws on both sides of the backpan bottom as shown. (FIGURE B)
  3. With the feet in position, reattach the screws.
  4. Use driver, 11/32” socket, (2x) 8-32 studs (D), and (2x) 8-32 nuts (F) to attach the latch back (E) to the backpan (A) as shown. (FIGURE C)MIDDLE ATLANTIC DWR-35-26PD Pivoting Wall Rack 4Remove security clips holding pivot pins in place in the top and bottom of the backpan (A). (FIGURE D)MIDDLE ATLANTIC DWR-35-26PD Pivoting Wall Rack 5
  5. Use hand to loosen and remove top and bottom pivot pins. (FIGURE E)
NOTE: Use slip joint pliers to carefully remove the pins, if necessary.
  6. Lift the center section (B) and place the bottom glide strip on the edge of the backpan (A). Position the center section to engage the lower pivot bushing on the backpan. (FIGURE F)
  7. Pivot top of center section into backpan and align with upper pivot bushing. (FIGURE F)
  8. Use hand to insert and fully tighten pivot pin into upper bushing, and then back out one turn. Repeat for lower bushing with second pivot pin. (FIGURE E)
  9. Re-install the security clips to prevent unintentional pivot pin removal. (FIGURE D)
NOTE: When installing front door, the factory rackrail setback will be 1½” (38 mm) to the inside of the door. The lock and handle located at the center of the door has an additional setback of ½” (13 mm). Please adjust your rackrail accordingly before installing equipment.MIDDLE ATLANTIC DWR-35-26PD Pivoting Wall Rack 6
  10. Use power driver, 5/16” socket, and the screws pre-installed on the back of the center section (B) to install trim (C) on the pivot side of the center section as shown. (FIGURE G)MIDDLE ATLANTIC DWR-35-26PD Pivoting Wall Rack 7NOTE:
    • If using power driver, verify the torque is on the lightest setting and only increase as necessary.
    • Thread cutting screws are provided on both sides of the center section for convenience. Leave unused thread cutting screws in place on opposite side.
