CONSUMER SAFETY INFORMATION

This appliance is intended for household use only. The motor of this electric knife does not require any lubrication or oil. Any other servicing should be performed by an authorized service center. Call the toll-free customer service number for information.

This appliance is equipped with a polarized plug. This type of plug has one blade wider than the other. The plug will fit into an electrical outlet only one way. This is a safety feature intended to help reduce the risk of electrical shock. If you are unable to insert the plug into the outlet, try reversing the plug. If the plug should still fail to fit, contact a qualified electrician to replace the obsolete outlet. Do not attempt to defeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug by modifying the plug in any way.

This electric knife is perfect for slicing cooked meats and poultry and many bakery items.

CAUTION
Be sure the cord is not connected to the electric outlet when removing or inserting blades and when the knife is not in use. The blades are extremely sharp. Always handle by the side opposite the cutting edge, as illustrated, or by the plastic guards.

  1. If blades are separated, pick them up with the plastic guard. Slide the rivet on one blade into the keyhole slot in the other blade until they are locked together.
  2. Holding blades together at the base of the blade with the cutting edge down, slide onto the motor housing until both blades click into place.
  3. Plug the cord into the outlet.
  4. Hold the knife by the handle. Pull the On/Off button like a trigger to operate. You must hold the button “On” for the knife to operate.
  5. . To stop, release the button.

How To Clean and Store

WARNING
To reduce the risk of personal injury, always disconnect the cord from the electric outlet before inserting, removing, or cleaning blades. Blades are sharp; handle them carefully.

  1. Unplug cord from the electric outlet.
  2. Firmly pull back blade release button. Grasp the plastic guard and carefully pull until blades release.
  3. Carefully separate blades by sliding apart to disengage rivet from the keyhole.
  4. Wash blades in hot, soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
  5. After washing and drying, immediately place the blades into the protective sleeve for storage.
  6. To clean the motor housing and cord, wipe with a damp cloth and then dry thoroughly.

Hints For Best Results

  • Move the knife through the food. Do not use a back-and-forth sawing motion.
  • Let meats stand for about 15 minutes after cooking and before slicing.
  • Slice down to and around the bone. Do not attempt to slice through the bone.
  • Do not cut through frozen foods.
  • Do not attempt to sharpen the serrated blades at home. Replacement blades may be purchased from Hamilton Beach/Proctor-Silex, Inc. See “Customer Service” for more information.

If your electric knife does not cut well, it is probably because the blades are dull. Sharpening is easy.

Can you chop raw red, white, or seafood with this knife?

Although my husband used to fillet fish with our old electric knife, I haven’t used this one on raw meat or fish. He claimed that would also be a good use for this knife.

Are there two or three plugs on the power cord? What kind of extension cord will this work with, please? Is a third-holed one required?

There are only 2 prongs on this cutter. Therefore, a cord with two conductors will function.

Can a complete, bone-in ham be sliced with this electric knife?

The bone won’t be sliced through by it. The ham is sliced neatly.

Does this work as well for left-handed people?

Yes, you may use this electric knife with either your left or right hand. I adore this blade. It is primarily used by me to cut my bread. However, it may also be employed to cut other things, such as meat.

Can I use this knife to carve turkey bone? such as the leg.

Cutting activity that takes a lot of effort, time, and force. You won’t get the job done before your hand gives up. Craft bread is hardly cut. I’ve used the most pointless electricity.

Is effective at cutting bread?

It can surely cut bread, yes. I purchased the knife for this reason. The best. Along with that, I also use a cutting guide that I bought from Amazon.
